SALTEK Wins the Prestigious Red Dot Design Award

Often called the “Oscar of design”, the award is granted by the German institution Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. SALTEK succeeded in a competition in which an international jury judges tens of thousands of products and designs from around the world every year, across a wide range of categories.

The Red Dot Design Award recognises not only a product's appearance, but also its innovation, functionality, ergonomics and the quality of the technical solution. The award confirms that the SCG-S represents a combination of technical innovation and top-class industrial design.

First on the market

The new generation of SALTEK Class 1 SCG-S voltage limiting devices for rail transport is the first on the market to combine the essential Class 1 VLD protective function (VLD-F type) with contactless operating-status monitoring. The device status can be verified with a contactless reader from up to 2 metres away, with no need for disassembly.

Thanks to the contactless operating-status signalling, the device can be checked faster and without interfering with the installation. The solution thus contributes to more efficient maintenance of rail infrastructure, greater safety for service personnel and easier device diagnostics.

Behind the award-winning product stands long-term development and close cooperation between the development team and the industrial designer. The goal was to create a solution that meets the highest technical requirements while offering intuitive use and high-quality industrial workmanship.
