- Power supply units and power distributions – using coordinated FLP-B+C MAXI SPDs in case of AC power supply, or FLP-12.5 in combination with SPD type 3 mounted very close to the technology to be protected (the DA series). In case of imminent industrial disturbances it is recommended to use SPD type 3 with integrated HF filter. Concerning DC power supply distributions we recommend using a new series of DF and DPF SPDs.
- Sensors and signal current indication loops – the installation of overvoltage protections is a key factor at all places where the sensors are connected from outside to the central system (i.e. coming from the LPZ 0 zone), since the risk of carryover of dangerous impulses is the highest in this particular case. We protect these circuits with SPDs type ST1, or combined ST1+2+3 protections, by choosing the appropriate products from the BD, BDM or BDG series. These product series consist of a broad assortment of types for various specific applications, both regarding the operating voltage and the mode of protection used (against longitudinal, transversal or combined overvoltage).
- Data lines – more sophisticated IDS are using data transmission for communication between not only the central units, but often also for the communication with peripheral elements (smart sensors, subunits, PLC, cameras etc.), and demand also attention concerning the protection from overvoltages. Therefore the lines need to be fitted with SPDs, which applies for the RS type of communication (most often RS-485 lines) or other types (M-Bus, Modbus, CAN-Bus and other protocols) by choosing from several types of product series such as BD, BDM or BDG. Communication lines at the IP basis are fitted with the DL series.
